A visit to Arkley
Brother in law Nick and his wife Sue live in Arkley. For about five years he has been a priest at St Peter church. Apart from carrying out services(the litergy)he and Sue have managed to make a great many improvements in the church (heating, lighting etc). I had no idea that a priest and his spouse was responsible for that and for ensuring that the funds are raised to do it.
This was just a 24 hour visit but they had planned a lot of activities. These included visiting St Albans Cathedral which has undergone a major upgrading since I was there more than ten years ago visiting my cousin Sue Adams. We visited their daughter in law Charlotte and her lovely two and four year old daughters.
Nick's daugher Sophie was there and her boyfriend Will came to dinner.
I then caught the train from Potters Bar to Kings Cross, St Pancras and Canterbury West.
Nick will be finishing his "house for duties" job next August so they are busy trying to figure out where they are going to live. I put them in touch with my nephew Phillip Spencer who has become quite famous in Britain as a TV personality mostly though his program Location, Location, Location.
